The presence of pesticides in the environment is highly toxic to environment and human health. There have been reports of Organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) residue in eggs samples from Namakkal (Tamil Nadu).  We analysed methods for assessing the presence of organochlorine pesticides in chicken feed, egg and edible oil samples.  The methods use extraction followed by chromatographic identification methods.  We wanted to analyse the possibility of developing microbial biosensors for pesticide detection.
