The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the application form for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2025 on February 7, 2025. NEET is the single national-level entrance exam for admission to undergraduate medical courses in India, including MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and veterinary programs. This year, over 1 lakh MBBS seats, 28,088 BDS seats, 52,720 AYUSH seats, and 603 BVSc & AH seats are up for grabs across 612 medical and 315 dental colleges nationwide.
Aspiring medical students can submit their applications until March 7, 2025, at 11:50 PM through the official NEET website. The NEET 2025 exam is scheduled for May 4, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:20 PM. This year’s exam has reverted to the pre-COVID format, featuring 180 compulsory questions to be answered in 180 minutes. The NTA has also introduced the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) ID system for registration, although it’s not mandatory for NEET 2025.
Based on previous trends, the number of NEET applicants has been steadily increasing. In 2024, a record-breaking 24,06,079 students registered for the exam, with 23,33,297 appearing on the exam day. Given this upward trend, it’s anticipated that the number of applicants for NEET 2025 may surpass 2.6 million, making it the most competitive NEET exam to date.
