The first 8 student project groups funded by Dr. MGR DST NewGenIEDC along with their faculty mentors met at the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Center on Feb 20th 2019. 

Mr. B. Senthil Kumar, a patent and trademark agent gave an overview of Patenting processes and the prior art searching methods.  The search in the WIPO patent database and analysing the exisiting patents, theri claims and geographical coverage was the first step in this process. He also told us the importance of applying in the Indian Patent Office before applying to the PCT.

Time spent with each individual group was greatly appreciated by students and faculty.
