Idea Generation Day

The event conducted by forge factory gave a deep taste to the students about the recent technology. They were exposed to the electronics, electrical and robotics. THe students competed with other students from different colleges and shared and networked with them. They were trained to wwrite the business proposals. They were given few fields to work and come up with an innovative idea.

Dr. G. Gopalakrishnan, Provost of Dr. MGR Educational and Research Institute welcomed the members and the students gathered. Dr. N. S. Shubhashree, Faculty Coordinator of DST NewGen IEDC made a presentation on how the Center was spreading the spirit of Innovation and Entrepreneurship to students of Engineering and Technology and students of Allied Health Sciences.Dr. J. Arun Kumar made a presentation on the status of the projects funded last year.  This year, we received 32 applications.   The Department faculty helped in screening the applications.  17 have been selected for the presentation today.   Resource persons have helped the students in their presentation.In addition, efforts to identify industry partners is in process and various companies have been approached to help as mentors. We have also identified a few problems posed by Industry.  The students have been encouraged to participate in Smart India Hackathons, which will help in getting solutions for problems worth solving. These students are prospective applicants for the NewGenIEDC.

Out of the 17 presentations, 9 could be selected for Phase I of the funding. Make a thorough IPR search and identify how the product can be protected.
